After years of handing out ambiguous, random suspensions, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell finally got it right suspending by Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot for six games.
The league couldn’t afford to butcher this situation the way they did the Ray Rice situation in 2014. It is obvious that Goodell learned from that case and he wasn’t going to make same mistake twice.
Pictures emerged yesterday showing the bruises that were left after Elliott allegedly assulted his ex-girlfriend in July of 2016. Elliott claims they were the result of a bar fight but the pictures tell a different story.
The NFL investigated the incident and presented their findings to Goodell. Based on the evidence, Goodell acted appropriately.
Elliott and the Cowboys disagree with the suspension and Elliott has vowed to appeal it. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is reportedly unhappy with the punishment being handed down. Sucks to be on the other end of it huh Jerry?
The bottom line here is, Elliott put his hands on a women and deserves to be disciplined. Shame on him for putting his hands on a women and shame on Jones and the Cowboys for being arrogant enough to think that Elliott was innocent and should not have been disciplined. ABased on the evidence, Elliott got what he deserved.
There is no question that Goodell has mismanaged the way he has disciplined players and organizations in the past. No one would question that but in this instance he did the right thing. It is about time he got it right.
