Our first D1 New England poll of the year is here.

Now that everyone (except the Ivys) have a game or two under their belt, who’s the best of the best right now? 

1. UMass (1-0) – Improbable win over Rutgers has the Minutemen at the top of our poll for the first time ever.

2. UConn (1-0) – Huskies dominate Lafayette and now they turn their attention to Maryland.

3. Rhode Island (1-1) – After a tough loss to Temple, the Rams host Elon on Saturday in their home opener at Centerville Bank Stadium.

4. Yale (0-0) – Bulldogs open next weekend at Holy Cross.

5. Boston College (0-1) – After tough loss to Cincinnati, the Eagles will look to pick up their first win Friday night against Rutgers.

6. Harvard (0-0) – Crimson open next Saturday at UNH.

7. Dartmouth (0-0) – Big Green open next Saturday at Lehigh.

8. Brown (0-0) – Bears open next Saturday at New Haven.

9. CCSU (0-1) – Tough way to open the season with a blowout against powerhouse South Dakota. After a rare early bye, the Blue Devils head to FBS opponent Toledo this weekend.

10. Maine (1-1) – After an impressive win over Towson to open the season, the Black Bears were blown out by FBS opponent App State. Home opener this weekend against Merrimack.

11. Sacred Heart (1-1) – Pioneers got their CAA Era started with a tough loss to Monmouth. SHU plays UMass in the road this weekend.

12. Bryant (1-1) – Bulldogs opened up with a win over Stonehill and then had a very tough go of it against Army last Saturday. Bryant heads to Hampton this week.

13. Stonehill (1-1) – After a loss to Bryant, the Skyhawks bounced back with a big win over new NEC foe New Haven last week. Stonehill heads up to Durham to face UNH this weekend.

14. New Haven (1-1) – The Chargers opened with a win over Marist and then fell to Stonehill. New Haven heads out to play San Diego State on Saturday.

15. Holy Cross (0-2) – It’s been a tough start for the Crusaders, getting blown out by Lehigh and Colgate. It certainly doesn’t get any easier with an FBS road trip to Miami of Ohio on deck.

16. UNH (0-2) – The Wildcats dug an early hole against Albany they couldn’t get out of and then got hammered by Syracuse last week. Wildcats have their home opener this weekend against Stonehill.

17. Merrimack (0-2) – Blowout losses against URI and Delaware to start the season. Warriors face travels up to Orono to face Maine.
