It’s already week three in the college football world (Yes, Cal vs. Hawaii was week one) Obviously there won’t be as many good match ups as last week but there are still some quality games to look forward to.
Nevada Wolf Pack at #18 Notre Dame Fighting Irish: The Irish lost a heartbreaker to Texas last week but they should bounce back this week against a Nevada team that is talented offensively but has some question marks defensively. Can Brian Kelly just stick with DeShone Kizer at quarterback? No more musical chairs.
Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at #1 Alabama Crimson Tide: Western Kentucky coach Jeff Brohm is a rising star in the profession and his spread offense is one of the hidden gems in the game. The Toppers will give Bama trouble for a half but the cream will rise and Jalen Hurts and company will eventually pull away.
Arkansas Razorbacks at #15 TCU Horned Frogs: I think this will be the best game of the day. The ground and pound Hogs vs. the high flying Frogs. Arkansas must control the clock and keep Kenny Hill and the Frogs offense on the sideline if they want to win this game. For TCU, it’s all about exploiting the speed match ups. It’ll be a great game.
Iowa State Cyclones at #16 Iowa Hawkeyes: The battle for bragging rights in Iowa is on. Iowa State lost another in state game last week to Northern Iowa in coach Matt Campbell’s debut. Needless to say, they’ll have their hands full against C.J Beathard and the Hawkeyes. Iowa wins the old fashion way. Ground and pound and good defense. That’s the same formula that they’ll use today in a game they should win.
#17 Tennessee Volunteers vs. Virginia Tech Hokies: Normally I wouldn’t get excited about a game being played on a NASCAR race track but schools have played basketball games on aircraft carriers so why not. Tennessee needs to play better after a lackluster performance last week against App State. For the Hokies and first year coach Justin Fuentes, they need a statement win. Winking this game would be a major statement.
