Former Dedham and Falmouth Coach Mike Cloutier has been named the new head football coach Joseph Case High School in Swansea.
Cloutier was in his first year at Falmouth High School after serving as the head coach at Dedham High School previously. He led the Clippers to a 5-6 record.
Cloutier lives in Swansea and the decision to make the move from Falmouth to Case was due to travel and Falmouth. Cloutier said as much to the powers that be at Falmouth.
“It’s nothing you guys did, or the school did. I love it in Falmouth and love coaching you guys. The school of the town we live in opened up and they wanted me to take the coaching job there.”
Cloutier later elaborated on why he made the decision to take a job he hopes is his final coaching stop in a while.
“The only thing that made me take it is my family. It’s five minutes from my house and I will get to coach my sons,” he said. “It wasn’t an easy decision, it took a few weeks for me to decide and if I could pack up and move to Falmouth to coach there I would. But, I drove over 10,000 miles back and forth to get to practice and games.”
Case finished last season at 4-7 but they did make the playoffs last season. The Cardinals return several key contributors from last season including fullback Aedan Borges who scored 14 rushing touchdowns last season.
Cloutier led Dedham to four playoff appearances and earned Tri-Valley League Coach of the Year honors twice. He is a proven coach who will build a program at a school that needs a consistent presence at the top.
