The King Philip will have a new head coach leading the program this fall. Anthony Vizakis has been hired to replace Brian Lee. Lee led the Warriors for 21 seasons and took them to eight Super Bowls, winning four of them.
Vizakis has been an integral part of the Warriors success in recent years, serving as offensive coordinator the past three seasons. In that span, the Warriors have gone 38-1 and won a Division 2 title in 2023 and Division 3 Super Bowl last season.
We caught up with Coach Vizakis who says he is honored for the opportunity to lead the King Philip Football program.
“I am truly honored and excited to lead King Philip football into this next chapter. I look to continue the standard of excellence and hard work that has been set in place by Coach Lee and our staff, as well as the incredible young men who have come through this program.”
Vizakis has a vast resume including as a head coach. He was the head coach at Milford from 2017 to 2019. He has also served as offensive coordinator at Franklin High School and he has coached at Holliston High School. He is looking forward to being a head coach once again.
“Getting the opportunity to lead a high school football program again is truly an honor and a privilege, especially here at KP. I have grown so much as a coach since the last time I held the head coach position, and I can’t wait to for the opportunities this season will present!”
As for what people can expect from the Warriors moving forward, Vizakis says not much will change. They can expect to see the same tough, hard nose King Philip teams we have seen the past two decades.
“People can expect to see a disciplined, tough and motivated group of players that will continue the tradition of playing hard-nosed KP football. Our team will play with hustle, relentless effort, and pride for the KP program.”
Vizakis is no stranger to that style. He himself was a tough, physical lineman who played at Bridgewater State University (2004-2008), where he played football all four years and voted Captain his senior year. He played his high school football at Bishop Feehan, winning 3 Super Bowl titles as senior captain.
As for expectations this season, Vizakis says the standard will remain the standard. Competing for championships.
“This year’s expectations will include us being competitive in the Hockomock League, Division 3, and to compete with an unrelenting focus and determination every week.”
