Wide receiver Jalen Hurd’s career as a Patriot lasted all of a week as the 2019 third round pick of the San Francisco 49ers was placed on the reserved/retired list by the Patriots.
With Hurd’s retirement, that opened up a roster spot and the Patriots used that spot to claim undrafted rookie wide receiver Thyrick Pitts from Delaware. Pitts was released by the Bears recently.
The 6-2 201 Pitts had a big season for the Blue Hens last fall catching 57 passes for 631 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns.

Given the lack of depth at running back, it is surprising that the Patriots did not use the available roster spot to bring in a veteran back. It looks like they are going to continue to give the camp reps to Kevin Harris, Pierre Strong and J.J Taylor.
Pitts should be a participant at today’s second padded practice. We will know more this morning.
