I’m Just Sayin: What Did People Expect from Batman vs. Superman?

I am not quite sure what people expected out of Batman vs. Superman but what they got was an action packed, comic book movie. Isn’t that what it is after all? Reviews of the much anticipated film have been harsh. Most so called film critics didn’t like it. I must admit, I was skeptical of this movie as well prior to seeing it. However, after seeing it on Thursday night, I walked away throughly entertained.

Contrary to what the critics are saying, the movie was not bad. Ben Affleck is surprisingly good as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill is on point as the Man of Steel. Heck, even Jesse Eisenberg is pretty good as Lex Luthor. I found him to be annoying in the previews leading up to the movie but he was excellent as Superman’s primary villain.

The movie isn’t without its warts. I thought it took too long to introduce Wonder Women’s character and the super villain Doomsday was annoying and pointless. Although, I must say, the scene were he corners Batman and Batman says “Ah shit” is priceless.

I do want to remind the critics that this movie wasn’t made to win an Oscar. It’s an action film, plain and simple. Accept it for what it is and go critique some stupid French film that no one will watch but will somehow get nominated for an academy award.

I don’t go to the movies often. I only go when something comes out that interests me. I’m the furthest thing from a critic but I thought this movie was fun. Take it for what it is. It’s  a comic book action movie featuring the two greatest super heroes of all time. I’m just saying.
