I’m Just Sayin: If ESPN Had Any Stones, They Would Fire Bomani Jones!

If ESPN had any stones and that’s highly debatable, they would fire media personalty Bomani Jones for the T-Shirt he wore on set yesterday. I don’t care what the meaning behind the shirt is. You don’t wear something that offensive on live television. Now I know some people are going to think I’m being a hypocrite because sports teams like the Indians, Redskins and others use the likeness of Native Americans, but the fact of the matter is, those are sports teams. They’ve been doing that for a long time right or wrong. How would Mr. Jones like it if a white ESPN personalty wore a T-Shirt with a black version of the Indians logo that read “African-Americans” He would be upset and there would be an uproar!

The media has a double standard when it comes to white people and black people and what they can get away with on national television. Jones is allowed to get away with this nonsense partly because he’s black and because he’s trying to make a statement by supporting the company that made the shirt. That’s a bunch of bullshit! ESPN shouldn’t be used as a forum to promote an agenda or a business. Then again, I’m not surprised. This is the same network that aired an interview with Greg Hardy earlier this week. They’ll do anything for ratings.

Its a shame ESPN has turned into such a farce. I used to love the network and what they stood for. Now they’ve become a sham because they employ dinks like Bomani Jones. If we as a society want racial harmony, we should respect each other. What Jones did is disrespectful and despicable. If you think I’m overreacting, tough shit! You have your head up your ass and don’t get it then. Respect is earned, not given! I lost all respect for Jones and I’m beginning to question whether I have any respect for a network that I’ve respected for a long time. I’m just saying.
