Things haven’t always been easy for Hunter Henry.
Henry has had his fair share of injuries in his career and while having success as a Charger, he’s struggled like everyone else on offense since he became a Patriot three years ago.
Still, Henry has shown leadership on and off the field as a captain this season. Most recently, Henry’s longevity was rewarded when he played in his 100th game against the Giants and his 101st this past Sunday against his old team. On Tuesday, I asked Henry what those numbers mean to him.
“It means a lot, it means a lot,” he said. “My story, I was hurt a lot early in my career. You know, I couldn’t catch a break with a lot of kind of major injuries I had to deal with, it was hard. I couldn’t stay on the field and I took a lot of pride in that, trying to be consistent and available for my teammates and for everybody in the locker room. I take a lot of pride in that here, just trying to be available, trying to be as consistent as I can. So, it means a lot.
“I actually…my wife was laughing at me because I was just thinking about it, sitting there like ‘I’m probably close to 100’ and then I found out last week was actually my 100th. So, yeah, 101 is a lot of games. I’m proud of it and I’m looking forward to many more.”
