Greenwich capped off a dominant playoff run with an impressive 37-17 win last night over Fairfield Prep to capture the Class LL State Title. It is their first state title since 2018.
With the win, the Cardinals captured their 9th CIAC title in program history. Greenwich scored 20 first quarter points en route to a big win.

Charlie Dixon opened the scoring for the Cardinals when he returned an interception 34 yards for a touchdown. The senior wide receiver and defensive back had three interceptions in the game.
On their first offensive possession of the game, running back George Vomvolakis would punch it home from 6 yards out to increase the Cardinals lead to 13-0 after kicker Sergot Boone connected on the extra point. The Cardinals would tack on another score right before the end of the quarter when quarterback Jack Wilson would score from one yard out.

21 times for 152 yards and two touchdowns while Wilson completed 11-of-19 passes for 119 yards and scored twice on the ground.
Wilson scored another one yard touchdown to start the second quarter to increase the Cardinals lead to 27-0. Fairfield Prep would answer however when quarterback Tyler Smith hit Ryan Preisano on a 24 yard touchdown pass. The extra point made it 27-7 at the half.
A Sergot Boone 31 yard field goal was the only scoring in the third quarter. Vomvulakis put the game away early in the fourth quarter when he scored his second touchdown of the game on a 63 yard touchdown run. Fairfield Prep would get a 13 yard touchdown run by Malachi Mercer-Robinson and a late safety but the game was well in hand by then.
The win capped off an impressive post-season by the Cardinals. They outscored opponents 126-24 in three games.
