For a first Division 1 offer, this one had to be pretty special for Brandon Sullivan.

The Catholic Memorial offensive lineman announced on Twitter Friday that Harvard offered and became the first D1 school to pull the trigger.

Sullivan, a New England Football Journal Second Team All-State selection, is a junior, or member of the 2024 class. He plays guard, and that is the position he projects at on the next level.

He is listed at 6-foot-3, 285 pounds, and is a tough, athletic, strong player who excels at pulling and executing second-level blocks.

His coach, John DiBiaso, believes more offers are on the way.

“I think he’s going to get Yale and Princeton very shortly. I think he’ll get all three,” DiBiaso said. “Then, we’ll see what happens. Incredibly proud of him.”

Combined with power 5-offered offensive tackle Guerby Lambert in the same class, the Knights should have one of the best offensive lines in New England this fall.

DiBiaso knows what he has in Sullivan.

“He’s very physical,” DiBiaso said. “Technically, he’s so sound. That position — guard — doesn’t lend to a lot of accolades. In the line, they look at tight ends, the blindside tackles, things like that. But guards and the center really don’t get that kind of notoriety, but it doesn’t lessen how great a player he is, and I think people are realizing that now.”

As DiBiaso said, Sullivan is “built like a fire hydrant,” and can get it done on the move or in tight quarters.

“We say he’s very good in space,” DiBiaso said. “Some linemen, they can pull or they can get to the second level, but they find it hard to break down and drop their hips and make contact. Brandon is very, very loose in the hips. He’s got a good bend in his back. He not only gets to the second and third level, he makes the block.”
