Former Springfield Central offensive lineman Jayden Bass commits to UConn

Former Springfield Central all-state performer and Syracuse offensive lineman Jayden Bass has committed to UConn.

Bass made the announcement last night on social media. He entered the portal on April 26th and two weeks later, he found a new home in Storrs.

Bass was recruited by offensive line coach and offensive coordinator Gordie Sammis. He had several offers while he was in the portal but chose to stay closer to home and commit to the Huskies.

The 6-5 320 pound Bass held 22 total offers coming out of high school and chose to commit to Syracuse but with the recent coaching change, Bass opted to transfer after spring ball.

Now he gets the opportunity to play for Jim Mora and he can be even closer to home for family and friends to watch him play.

The Huskies return several veteran offensive lineman including tackles Valentin Senn and Chase Lundt as well as center Chris Fortin but they will have competition at the guard positions in fall camp. Bass will have the opportunity to play right away.

Bass still has three years of eligibility remaining.
