Former LaSalle standout Justin Denson commits to Michigan State

Former LaSalle defensive back and wide receiver Justin Denson announced this evening on his Instagram account that he is committing to Michigan State.

Denson’s recruiting skyrocketed this spring. He had 28 offers from several Power 5 programs including: Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Florida State, Miami (Fla), Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Maryland, Texas A&M, South Carolina and Tennessee among others.

Denson ultimately settled on Michigan State Head Coach Mel Tucker and the Spartans. Tucker’s NFL background and his reputation for developing defensive backs were two big reason for Denson’s commitment.

The 6-2 180 pound Denson came on at the end of his senior season and started getting attention not just locally but nationally as well. After the season, Denson decided to do a post grad year at Wyoming Seminary. Denson’s recruitment exploded thanks to recruiting expert Joe Mento. Between Mento and the 7 on 7 circuit, Denson became a four star recruit and a player colleges wanted.

We caught up with Denson last month on our Recruiting Visit livestream. He had plenty to say about his time at LaSalle and the recruiting process.

Now he is a Spartan and he will be representing LaSalle and his home state of Rhode Island on the national stage.
