First & Ten: Ten Thoughts for January 6th 2017

P.J Fleck is rowing west to the University of Minnesota to take over as head football coach.

1.The Buffalo Bills are reportedly moving on from Tyrod Taylor. Its not that they are moving on from Taylor, they are moving from his contract. Taylor is still the best quarterback in the building.

2. Minnesota made a great hire in P.J Fleck. There’s a piece coming on the hire later on today so hang tight.

3. Les Miles also interviewed for the Minnesota job but didn’t get it. If I were Western Michigan, I would make a run at Les and bring him home. Why not? Miles is 63 and would consider taking the job if the money was right.

4. Ohio State quarterback J.T Barrett is returning for his senior season at Ohio State. Barrett must improve as a passer or the Buckeyes will once again struggle offensively, especially in big games.

5. Florida cornerback Teez Tabor declared for the draft yesterday. I like Tabor’s size and his ball skills. Tabor has the potential to be a top 20 pick with a good combine and pro day.

6. Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon declared for the draft yesterday but he will have a hard time convincing teams that he has changed.

7.  A new broom sweeps clean in New Orleans as Sean Payton fired five assistants including long time assistants Joe Vitt and Bill Johnson. Loyalty truly does not exist in the NFL anymore. Vitt and Johnson didn’t deserve to be fired. Its B.S!

8. The Colts are retaining both Chuck Pagano and GM Ryan Grigson. It is official. Owner Jim Irsay is a glutton for punishment.

9. Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory was suspended for a year by the NFL yesterday. Bye-bye career! Gregory has a long road ahead of him. Just ask Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon.

10. It was -25 degrees with the wind chill at Packers practice yesterday. The thought of that hurts.
