Marquise Goodwin could be a steal in the later rounds of drafts.
It is never too early to start planning for the 2018 fantasy football season. When it comes to drafting a wide receiver, you either draft one early after the run on running backs or you wait until the middle rounds. The receiver position is deep so if you don’t end up with Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr. or Julio Jones, that doesn’t mean you can’t get good value later on. There are plenty of quality starting receivers in the NFL that can be one’s or two’s in your line up.
Here are five wide receivers that are good values in your draft.
5. Martavis Bryant, Oakland Raiders: Bryant has flashed big play potential in his career with the Steelers however between off the field issues and inconsistency, Bryant has failed to fully live up to live up to that potential. He has a chance to finally live up to his ability playing in Jon Gruden’s West Coast offense. If you go back and watch Gruden’s teams of the late nineties and early 2000’s, receivers were a big part of the Raiders attack. Gruden got a lot out of Jerry Rice and Tim Brown. He can do the same for Byrant.
4. Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos: Sutton will start out as the third receiver for the Broncos but expect him to play more snaps as the season goes on. Sutton’s size and ball skills make him an appealing target in the red zone. Sutton offers terrific late round value as a flex or back up receiver.
3. Kenny Golladay, Detroit Lions: Golladay caught 28 passes for 477 yards and 3 touchdowns as a rookie but after a strong start, he faded the second half of the season due in large part to injuries. The potential is there for Golladay to triple those numbers in 2018. He has terrific size at 6-4 213 and has strong hands and good body control. If he stays healthy, Golladay could be a wide receiver two or flex option in 2018. I am buying high on him.
2. Ryan Grant, Indianapolis Colts: Grant is slated to start opposite T.Y Hilton for the Colts. Grant can play the Z receiver or line up in the slot in Frank Reich’s offense. Grant really came on last season in an expanded role with the Redskins but he is primed for a breakout season with the Colts provided Andrew Luck is healthy.
1. Marquise Goodwin, San Francisco 49ers: The 49ers signed Goodwin last off-season. After the death of his infant child, Goodwin returned to the 49ers and went off down the stretch, especially after Jimmy Garoppolo took over at starting quarterback. Goodwin finished the season with 56 catches for 962 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. He averaged 17.2 yards per reception. Now that Goodwin has established a relationship with Garoppollo, look for him to build on those numbers and be worthy of wide receiver two or flex consideration.
