The Rams signing of Dominque Easley is a terrific move for three reasons.
1. He’s Young: Easley is a young player who fits Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams defense to a tee. He can play in multiple fronts and he is three down player. Getting him on a one year deal give the Rams the chance to evaluate him and see how he fits in. If Easley plays well, he has a chance to earn an extension.
2. Scheme Versatility: Easley can play the three technique defensive tackle in 40 fronts and he can kick out and play the five technique defensive tackle in 30 fronts. He has elite pass rushing skills for a defensive tackle and could thrive playing next to Aaron Donald because he’ll end getting a lot of one on one blocks.
3. Fresh Start: For whatever reason, Easley was a bad fit in New England. He’ll get a fresh start with the Rams and he could realize his potential.
