Doc’s Daily Rants: Weekend Edition.

1. To call Steph Curry ridiculous would be an understatement. He is the best shooter we’ve seen since Larry Bird and when it’s all said and done, he could be better than Bird.

2. The Celtics win over the Heat was huge yesterday because that’s the team the Celtics have to ward off if they want to lock up the three seed in the east.

3. The Bruins are supposedly going to be “very active” tomorrow. I believe it. It doesn’t appear that they are going to sign Loui Eriksson so he’s a goner.

4. The Red Sox caught a huge break when Eddie Rodriguez just “tweaked” his knee shagging fly balls in the outfield yesterday. By the way, pitchers shagging fly balls is dumb to me. I’m sorry but we’ve seen plenty of them get hurt doing it including Mariano Rivera. I don’t know why teams do it. It’s dumb!

5. All of the quarterbacks threw the ball well at the Combine yesterday but there was no WOW factor. That being said, it’s a quarterback driven league and I still expect four of them to go in the first round.

6. I like the Texas Rangers signing of Ian Desmond. Sure they are giving up a first round pick but Desmond is a good athlete and he can play in the outfield. I think it’s a good pick up by GM Jon Daniels.

7. Give Florida Panthers veteran GM Dale Tallon credit. He identified three quality veteran players like Jiri Hudler, Teddy Purcell and Jakob Kindl and he went out and got them. The Panthers are trying to make a run and I think that’s great for hockey.

8. Now Tim Tebow wants to play in Canada? Why the f*ck can’t he just stay retired and enjoy his cushy gig at ESPN? It’s over dude. Put the dream to bed. Move on!
