Dime Package: Ten Thoughts on the Week That Was in College Football

Here are some thoughts on the week that was in college football.

1. Alabama is a machine. Period! They absolutely pounded a good Ole Miss team 62-7.

2. I can’t say I’m surprised that Wisconsin lost to BYU. You could see it coming when they fell behind. Wisconsin is not built to come from behind.

3. Florida State has a lot of problems right now on both sides of the ball. Offensively, the scheme doesn’t fit the talent. Defensively, the Noles have several inexperienced starters who have yet to play meaningful snaps in their careers. Add it all up and it makes for a bad football team.

4. Nebraska losing to Colorado is one thing but losing to Troy is inexcusable. Scott Frost clearly has a lot of work to do in Lincoln.

5. Is LSU a national contender? Yes! Beating a team like Auburn puts a program into the conversation. The Tigers are a national title contender. For now. Stay tuned.

6. Do you buy Oklahoma State now that they beat Boise State? I do. I think the Cowboys are a legit contender in the Big 12. As long as their defense holds up their end of the bargain, they’ll be fine.

7. Ohio State’s win over TCU was all about talent. No offense to interim Buckeyes coach Ryan Day but he didn’t out coach Gary Patterson, he just had better players.

8. Notre Dame has not looked good in wins against Ball State and Vandy. Something tells me the Irish bubble is about to burst.

9. So much for Northwestern being a legit contender in the Big Ten. After beating a bad Purdue team in the week one, the Wildcats have lost to Duke and Akron. File under: FRAUDS!

10. I told you Arizona State was going to lose after beating Michigan State at home. That’s the problem with the Sun Devils. Consistency.
