Barrett, Mayfield will be the best quarterback match up this weekend.
I went 11-5 in week one and I am O.K with that. Here are my picks for week two.
No. 17 Louisville (-6) at North Carolina: I like Carolina at home as a dog. Lamar Jackson struggled last week against a game Purdue squad.
No. 21 South Florida (-20) at Connecticut: South Florida struggled last week against FCS Stony Brook. Maybe that was a week one thing or something. I think they will bounce back against a UConn team that is not quite ready for prime time.
Florida Atlantic at No. 9 Wisconsin (-36): You know what, I am going to put my money Lane Kiffin and FAU in this one. Why not? 36 points is an absurd number. I’m taking the Owls as a road dog.
Louisiana-Monroe at No. 10 Florida State (-33): No Deondre Francois, no problem. Jimbo Fisher needed a game to figure out who his quarterback will be moving forward and he will do that this week. That being said, 33 points is a big number. I’m tempted to Louisiana Monroe but I won’t.
Cincinnati at No. 8 Michigan (-31.5): The Fighting Fickell’s as I like to call Cincinnati will give Michigan all they can handle. I am going to take the Bearcats as a road dog. I don’t think Michigan blows them out despite last week’s impressive win against Florida.
Charlotte at No. 19 Kansas State (-35): The Cats are a legit contender in the Big 12. Quarterback jesse Ertz and company will flex their muscles against a Charlotte program trying to figure the FBS landscape.
Northern Colorado at No. 22 Florida (No Line): Doesn’t matter that there is no line. Jimmy Mac gets the boys fired up and they bounce back in the swamp.
Fresno State at No. 1 Alabama (-45): Remember when Fresno was a good program? What the hell happened? I am going to take Bama in this one. Fresno will struggle to break 100 yards of total offense.
Pittsburgh at No. 4 Penn State (-20): I love Penn State’s offense but something tells me they are not going to blow out Pitt. Pat Narduzzi will game plan the hell out of the Lions. I am taking Pitt as a road dog.
Delaware at No. 18 Virginia Tech (No Line): The Hokies are legit folks. After an impressive win over West Virginia don’t expect them to take their foot off the gas. Delaware is the perfect opponent to keep the good times rolling. I’m putting the easy money on the Hokes.
No. 23 TCU at Arkansas (-2): Screw it! I am a Bret Bielema fan and I love to watch the Hogs ground people into submission with their running game. TCU plays good D and their uptempo spread offense is tough to stop but I am taking the Hogs as a home dog. They will find a way to get it done. WOO-PIG-SOOOEY!!!
Indiana State at No. 25 Tennessee (No Line): Tennessee should have lost on Monday night. Instead, the fought back and stole one against Georgia Tech. They get a breather this week against Indiana State, an FCS program.
No. 13 Auburn at No. 3 Clemson (-9): Did anyone see Kelly Bryant’s performance last week against lowly Kent State? He was impressive. The question is, can he and the Tigers do it again? I think they can. Auburn will be a stiff test but Clemson is legit folks. I am taking them to cover with ease. I think they beat Auburn by two scores.
No. 5 Oklahoma at No. 2 Ohio State (-9): Ohio State struggled with Indiana for a half and then got serious and blew them out. Oklahoma flat out destroyed UTEP. I have a feeling both teams will come to play in this one. Just a hunch. In games like this, you put the smart money on the home team. That is why I am taking J.T Barrett and the Bucks in this one. I think this game will be nip and tuck for a while but Ohio State is the better team.
Chattanooga at No. 12 LSU (No Line): Eddie O’s boys are good, real good! They will have no problem laying waste to Chattanooga.
No. 15 Georgia at No. 24 Notre Dame (-6.5): I don’t quite know what to make of either one of these teams. With Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason out, freshmen Jake Fromm will get the start. Fromm was impressive in relief last week and I expect the same this week. I just don’t buy the Irish, especially on defense. I am putting my money on the Dawgs!
Montana at No. 7 Washington (No Line): The Huskies shook off the rust against Rutgers last week. They will blowout the Grizz this weekend.
No. 14 Stanford at No. 6 USC (-10.5): I feel like it is waaaay too early in the season for a great PAC-12 match up like this. I like feel like the Cardinal are being short changed by Vegas. That is why I am taking them as a road dog. I like USC and I think they will win this game but it will be much closer than the odds makers think. I’m putting my cash on the fighting Shaw’s.
Boise State at No. 20 Washington State (-7): Don’t sleep on Mike Leach’s team in the PAC-12 North. Luke Falk and company are out to prove that they are a legit contender in the conference and and nationally. They will with a win against Boise this weekend. I like the Cougs as a 7 point home favorite.
Last Week’s Record: 11-5
Season Record: 11-5
