College Football: Dime Package for Week 7

Another weekend, another round of upsets as Clemson, Washington State, Louisville, Washington and San Diego State all went down.

Here are my thoughts on week 7.

1. Clemson’s weaknesses were finally exposed in their loss to Syracuse. They don’t have a legit running back and they are an average offensive team without quarterback Kelly Bryant. Once Bryant got hurt, their chances of winning the game went to the locker room with him.

2. I am not surprised Washington State lost to Cal. In fact, I am more surprised it took this long for them to lose.

3. Boston College beating Louisville may have saved Steve Addazio’s job. Of course that will depend on how the Eagles finish out.

4. Speaking of job security, there is no way Butch Jones saves his job after Saturday’s ugly loss at home against South Carolina. Tennessee will lose at least two more games this season. The next loss may be Jones final game as head coach of the Vols.

5. Miami stole another game this weekend beating Georgia Tech 25-24. You have to figure the Canes luck will run out eventually. Especially with star running back Mark Walton out for the season.

6. Washington averaged 43 points per game going into this weekend’s game at Arizona State. They were held to seven points in a 13-7 loss. How does that happen? The Huskies are one of the most explosive offenses in the country but apparently Jake Browning  and company took the night off.

7. So much for San Diego State being this year’s Western Michigan. Boise State reminded them that they still rule the Mounrain West Conference.

8. Oklahoma bounced back with a hard fought win over Texas in the Red River Rivalry but they almost blew it again for the second straight week. The Sooners have problems defensively. That is why I don’t think they are a national title contender.

9. LSU lost to Troy at home but has beaten Florida and Auburn the last two weeks. Go figure.

10. Michigan needed overtime to beat Indiana last weekend and this weekend they pay a visit to Happy Valley to battle Penn State. If Michigan doesn’t figure some things out offensively, It could be a long night for struggling Michigan quarterback John O’Korn and Jim Harbaugh. Don’t forget. Penn State beat Ohio State at Happy Valley last season.
