College Football: Dime Package for Week 6

Week six was littered with upsets and close calls. Here are my thoughts on the week that was in college football.

1.Oklahoma losing to Iowa State is not a surprise to me. The Sooners have been perennial gaggers for a long time. Just because Bob Stoops isn’t there anymore, doesn’t mean they don’t choke away winnable games.

2. Penn State was in a battle for the first half against Northwestern but after James Franklin and his staff figured out a way to get Saquon Barkley back on track, they took the game over and handled the Wildcats.

3. Miami beating Florida State for the first in seven years was a huge win for Mark Richt and his staff. It was a big win on and off the field. Miami needs to beat Florida State on the field if they want to win the recruiting war off the field. This win helps.

4. Clemson losing Kelly Bryant to a sprained ankle for any period of time is a major blow. Sure, the Tigers play great defense and they can run the ball, but the dual threat quarterback makes the Tigers offense go.

5. What the hell has happened to the Nebraska football program? I never thought I would say this, but the program was better off under Bo Pelini. They were far more competitive than they are right now under Mike Riley.

6. I guess I was wrong about Washington State. Maybe Mike Leach’s team is for real after all. Beating Oregon at Autzen Stadium is pretty impressive.

7. LSU lost to Troy at home but Florida at The Swamp. All that means is that both teams are not very good. Mediocre at best.

8.  I must admit. I didn’t think Texas A&M could hold Alabama to under 42 points. I don’t know whether to give Aggies defensive coordinator John Chavis credit or to question Alabama’s offense?

9. Michigan State beating Michigan shouldn’t surprise anyone. The Spartans are well coached and they can match Michigan’s physicality. It helps that Wolverines quarterback John O’Korn did his best impression of Big Ben and turned the ball over five times.

10. I see you Washington. Eviscerating teams left and right but getting no love because you are on the left coast.
