College Football: Dime Package for Week 2

Urban Meyer will have plenty of questions to answer after Ohio State’s loss to Oklahoma.

Ten thoughts from the week that was in college football..

1.Oklahoma is a legit national title contender. New coach Lincoln Riley isn’t like his predecessor Bob Stoops who was conservative during games. He will open it up offensively and push the envelope.

2.I hate to say it Buckeyes fans, but your team will not make the final four in college football. They are not good enough.

3. Clemson isn’t as good as last season but as Saturday’s win over Auburn showed they know how to win and they are resilient.

4. USC is the best team in the Pac-12 and I don’t think it is really a conversation. Sorry Washington fans! Their win over a very good Stanford team was impressive.

5. Everyone and their mother is ballwashing Michigan but I though they came out flat against Cincinnati and allowed the Bearcats to hang around. I think Michigan is good defensively. Offensively, they leave alot to be desired.

6. Lamar Jackson is already running away with the Heisman. I know it is a crowded field but Jackson has been a one man wrecking crew out of the gate. He will single handily carry the Cardinals this season.

7. Is Penn State the best team in the Big Ten? I think they are. Obviously they will need to prove it as the season goes on but the three headed monster of quarterback Trace McSorley, running back Saquon Barkley and tight end Mike Gesicki is tough to defend.

8. Texas A&M barely beat Nichols State 24-14. That’s not good for Kevin Sumlin’s long term prospects. It begs the question. Has his team quit on him?

9. As usual, Brian Kelly attacked the media when he was questioned after Notre Dame’s loss to Georgia. Look, the Irish played well enough to win. They couldn’t make enough plays down the stretch. Is it all Kelly’s fault? No, but he is the head coach and should accept responsibility for the performance of his team.

10. Steve Addazio’s seat at Boston College just got a little warmer after an embarrassing home loss to Wake Forest on Saturday.
