Ten Thoughts on the week that was in college football.
1.The Big Ten will not get Wisconsin in the college football playoff unless the Badgers go undefeated and look dominant doing it.
2. Ohio State’s performance against Iowa was the worst performance by an Ohio State team that I have ever seen! I don’t think the Buckeyes deserve a New Year’s Day bowl bid never mind making the college football playoff.
3. The SEC is sooooo overated! Outside of Georgia and Alabama, the rest of the conference is down this season. Don’t give me Auburn. They are not a contender nationally.
4. I will give Miami the respect they deserve if they beat Notre Dame this week. Until then, I still don’t buy them. I don’t care that they beat Va Tech. A win over the Hokies isn’t as impressive as it used to be.
5. I think it is safe to say that Baker Mayfield is the clear front runner for the Heisman. Unless he turns into a complete turd in the next weeks and start playing awful, he should win it.
6. Speaking of Oklahoma. When did they stop playing defense? Seriously. Bob Stoops leaves and all of a sudden they turn into Oklahoma State? Bedlum should have been a blow out but the Sooners have no interest in playing defense anymore.
7. I am still a big Matt Campbell fan despite Iowa State losing to West Virginia last week. It is not easy to win at ISU. Campbell is performing a miracle. Trust me.
8. Penn State has fallen apart because quarterback Trace McSorley has fallen apart.
9. The PAC-12 is the most frustrating conference in the country. While it is nice to have parity, the conference has become diluted.
10. The national media is heralding the job Scott Frost has done at Central Florida but lets not forget that the Knights were good when George O’Leary was there a few years ago. They played in the Fiesta Bowl in 2014 and beat Baylor 52-42. Central Florida has always been competitive.
