College Football: Bowl Game Previews and Predictions for December 27th

A.J Dillon will be looking to put on a show today for a national audience.

There are great match ups on the bowl schedule for today. The Pinstripe Bowl between Boston College and Iowa is the best match up of the day.

Here are picks for today’s bowl games.

Independence Bowl: Southern Miss (+12) vs. Florida State: Florida State doesn’t want to be in this bowl game. Southern Miss does. Even if Florida State plays well, I doubt they win by two scores.

Southern Miss has the athletes and can make big plays on offense. That is why I am picking them in this game as a dog. I think they will give the Noles all they can handle.

Pinstripe Bowl: Boston College (+2) vs. Iowa: I can’t wait for this game. It will be an old school, blue collar slugfest between two teams that like to pound the football and throw the ball deep off of play action. Both teams play good defense so expect a low scoring affair.

Running backs A.J Dillon of Boston College and Iowa’s Akrum Wadley spearhead both offenses but this game will come down to quarterback play and which quarterback takes care of the ball and makes the most big plays down the field.

That’s why I’m taking Boston College. Dillon is the real deal and he will run all over Iowa like he did everyone else this season. I am taking the Eagles as a +2 dog.

Texas Bowl: Missouri vs. Texas (+3): I know Missouri quarterback Drew Lock is a stud and tough to stop but I am taking the Longhorns in this game. Texas has one of the best defenses in the country and they have the athletes to match up with Missouri.

Texas will lean on quarterback Sam Ehringer and a young offense that has gotten better as the season has gone on.

I like Texas in this one as a dog. The number is small and Texas is good enough to beat a Missouri team that doesn’t play great defense.

Foster Farms Bowl: Purdue vs. Arizona (-3): This should be a good game that could go either way. Both teams are evenly matched. I’m putting my money on the Wildcats for one reason and one reason only. Quarterback Khalil Tate. Tate is probably the best player you’ve never heard of. He had scored 22 total touchdowns on the season and has been a one man gang for the Wildcats.

Arizona is young. They bring back a lot of talent next season. A win could really help Rich Rodriguez and his staff build momentum towards the 2018 season.
