College Football: Baker Mayfield Is My Projected Heisman Winner

The most prestigious individual award in all of sports will be handed out tonight. The Heisman Trophy will be handed out tonight in New York City.

My pick to win the 2017 Heisman Trophy is Baker Mayfield. Mayfield was impressive leading the Sooners to a 12-1 record and a Big 12 championship.

Mayfield threw for 4,340 yards and 41 touchdown passes. He completed 71% of his passes which proves how efficient he was in the Oklahoma offense.

Lamar Jackson won it last season and he is a worthy finalist once again. Jackson will go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks in college football history statistically but I don’t think he has had the impact this season that Mayfield.

Bryce Love did a masterful job replacing Christian McCaffery in the Stanford backfield. Love played with a severely sprained ankle most of this season which highlights his toughness and his willingness to win. Love is one of the best players in college football. Despite being an integral part of his team’s success, he is not as valuable as Mayfield was to Oklahoma.

Baker Mayfield is the clear cut choice to win the Heisman Trophy in 2017. Mayfield has been the best player in college football and he deserves it based on his performance and the performance of his team.
