Closing the book on the MIAA Super Bowls with 10 Thoughts

The 2024 season is in the books. We just witnessed eight terrific games at Gillette Stadium. Here are some thoughts on the games and a look ahead to next season.

  1. Uxbridge running Camden LaChappelle is only a junior. Think about that? He will be one of the best returning players in the state in 2025 as the Spartans will look to three peat.

  2. Hudson was impressive in a 21-14 win over Fairhaven in the Division 6 Super Bowl. It was disappointing to see Blue Devils running back Justin Marques get hurt and miss most of the game. Marques had a great career nonetheless. For the Hawks, this title win was three years in the making. Don’t sleep on Hudson moving forward. Sophomore quarterback Logan Dome will take over at quarterback and lead a team that returns several key contributors.

  3. Scituate has now won three Super Bowls since 2018. Can we talk about how good a program Herb Devine has built. It is one of the premier programs in the South Shore and with Johnny Donovan and Greyson Foley back next season, the Sailors should be a factor in D4 once again.

  4. Xaverian won a hard fought 14-7 game against a great Needham team in the Division One Super Bowl. It was a gutsy win considering how many guys were injured for Xaverian. The Hawks are well positioned to potentially three-peat next season with quarterback Will Wood, athlete Dave Chiavegato and lineman Dominic Funke all back next season.

  5. Catholic Memorial ran their record to 14-1 in the Division Two playoffs after their 39-21 win over a great KP team. Their average margin of victory in those playoff wins is 28 points per game. It makes for an interesting conversation with whether or not they should still be in Division Two. With Kise Flannery, Isaiah Simmons Mac Fitzgerald and Marcelo Antunes back, the Knights will once again be the favorites in D2.

  6. West Boylston got the three-peat. Mike Ross is the only the second coach in the state to win three titles with three different schools. The Lions return Dominick Renzoni and a talented group so winning four in a row is certainly possible.

  7. Shawsheen’s Sid Tildsley is not a quarterback, he is a football player. Period! Just tough as nails and he exemplifies everything that Al Constabile has built at the school. The Rams beat a good Foxboro team, 14-0 and did it by running the ball and leaning on the defense. A time tested formula. The Rams won their second state title and first since 2010.

  8. North Attleboro dominated Mansfield. Most thought it would be a close game again like the first meeting was but the Red Rocketeers made a statement in a 35-0 win. North’s senior class delivered the first title for North Attleboro since 2002.
