Former Harvard cornerback Alex Washington is on the move again. Washington announced today that he is leaving Boston College and entering the transfer portal.

The former All-Ivy League performer was expected to compete for a starting job with the Eagles after transferring to Boston College earlier this year but Washington couldn’t beat out Elijah Jones or Amari Jackson.

Washington played 45 snaps against Northern Illinois in the opener but his role started to diminish after that game. He only played one snap against Holy Cross, two snaps against Florida State, and 16 snaps against Louisville this past weekend.

Washington released a statement on why he de used to hit the portal. He did not get into specifics. He thanked Jeff Hafley, the coaching staff and his teammates. Washington did say he has one of year of eligibility and that he wanted to preserve it.

Washington could still opt to come back to B.C if he wanted to. Ultimately, it will depend on how much interest he garners in the portal.

At 6-0 186, Washington is a long, athletic cornerback who has starting experience. One would think he will draw plenty of interest.

As for the Eagles, they have plenty of depth in the secondary so losing Washington isn’t a blow by any means. That being said, the Eagles defense is struggling and his experience could come in handy.

Either way, it is probably best if both parties moved on at this time.
