Patriots sign LB Carson Wells and release LS Tucker Addington and DE DaMarcus Mitchell

The Patriots signed linebacker Carson Wells today and released long snapper Tucker Addington and defensive end DaMarcus Mitchell.  Releasing Mitchell was a surprise. He played in 16 games last season, primarily on special teams. The Patriots signed Mitchell as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue in May of 2022. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Patriots have signed free agent running back Ezekiel Elliott to a one year deal that could be worth up to $6 million dollars. The Patriots signed free agent running back C.J Marable. Marable, 26 originally signed with the Chicago Bears as a rookie free agent out of Coastal Carolina in 2021. The 5-10, 200-pounder, was released by the Bears in May of 2021.  Marable spent the last two seasons playing in the USFL for the Birmingham Stallions. If that is the case, then rookie defensive end Keion White made quite the impression last night in his preseason debut.  White started the game at defensive end and played the first quarter and a half.
