Mac Jones was set up to fail with the Patriots

March 11, 2024

AP Photo/Michael Dwyer) The Patriots are trading quarterback Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a sixth round pick in next month’s draft. The Patriots drafted Jones with the 15th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. At the time, I said that I liked the pick but Jones success hinged on the Patriots surrounding him with a talented supporting cast. They did not and Jones…

Patriots Free Agency: Need No. 3: Wide Receiver

March 9, 2024

The Patriots have invested in the wide receiver position in recent years both in the draft and free agency. They have also traded for receivers like DeVante Parker. Unfortunately, none of the moves have really paid off. The Patriots signed free agent JuJu Smith-Schuster last off-season to replace Jakobi Meyers who signed with the Las Vegas Raiders. The signing did not work out as Smith-Schuster had the worst season of…

Needless to say, tight end is truly a position of need.  New offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt will use the tight end a lot in the Patriots offense. We will see a lot of 11, 12 and 13 personnel in certain situations.  With over $87 million dollars in cap space, the Patriots certainly have the money…

Spygate changed everything. Especially Bill Belichick

February 25, 2024

After watching episodes 1-4 of The Dynasty on Apple TV, I am convinced that Spygate changed Bill Belichick forever. Former assistant and New York Jets coach Eric Mangini turning on him was a turning point of sorts for Belichick. He went from someone who could deal with the media and tolerate them to someone who did not trust the media or anyone in his own building for that matter. He…
