Some final thoughts before NFL camps ramp up this week

July 26, 2020

By Kevin J. Stone/@kstone06 Well, here we are. After months of questioning whether or not the NFL would truly be able to plow ahead like they thought they could, training camps are set to pick up steam this week. There’s still quite a bit of uncertainty as to how the regular season may look, but at the very least we should have some actual football topics to discuss starting soon….

Chiefs sign Mahomes to 10-year extension, was it worth it?

July 6, 2020

By Kevin J. Stone/@kstone06 On Monday afternoon Kansas City decided to make Pat Mahomes a Chief for life. Ironically enough giving the near baseball player a baseball-like contract. The Super Bowl-winning QB signed a 10-year, $450 million extension that could ultimately turn into $503 million. The most important part of the deal though, is the $141.48 million he will have in injury guarantees. My first reaction was to laugh. Not…

Patriots: Ho, Hum, Pats, Belichick put in timeout again by NFL

June 29, 2020

By Kevin Stone/@kstone06 Ho, Hum, the Pats got punished again. On Sunday night just minutes after the stunning news that they had signed Cam Newton, the punishment from “SpyGate Two” came down (that’s not by coincidence either) and it was fairly heavy. New England was fined a million dollars, lost a third round draft pick in 2021?and are banned from having any team production crews from being at games for…

Brady as a Buccaneer: First Look

June 16, 2020

All photos courtesy of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. By Kevin Stone/@kstone06/@newftbj  Is everyone ok? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady unveiled “official” photos of him in the uniform for the first time on Tuesday, and social media quickly buzzed. I am in the minority here and think he actually looks kind of normal – in a time where there is none – or at least it doesn’t seem as…

NFL: This day in NFL Draft history

April 20, 2020

By Kevin Stone/@kstone06/@newftbj It’s finally draft week. The first NFL Draft was held in February of 1936, with the next six years taking place in December. The first NFL Draft held in April was in 1943, and it remained that way for the next two years, but 1945 was the final one in April until 1976. This month has remained the designated Draft month since then with a few May…

Patriots: NFL players go back to school with virtual OTA’s

April 14, 2020

By Kevin Stone/@kstone06/@newftbj Back to school for NFL players? Sort of.  Breakfast at eight, home gym lift session at nine, film at 11, position meetings at noon, pet yoga at two, put the kid down for a nap, lunch, more film, call it a day. It’s a rough outline, but thanks to the new agreement between the NFL and NFLPA, there will be involuntary virtual workouts replacing OTA’s between April…

Opinion: The new NFL playoff format waters down the playoffs

April 1, 2020

By Kevin J. Stone/@kstone06/@newftbj Could Jarret Stidham make the playoffs his first full year as a starter? We have no way of knowing how good he is until he’s actually under center and all eyes are on him as the new leader, but the NFL sure made it a much more realistic possibility for the second-year QB out of Auburn with the adoption of a new playoff format Monday afternoon….

Despite facing heavy opposition from star players such as Aaron Rodgers, J.J Watt, Russell Wilson and Michael Thomas, the new CBA passed. The agreement…

Patriots: The Patriots and the NFL try to navigate around COVID-19

March 13, 2020

By Kevin J. Stone/@kstone06/@newftbj So now what? With the sudden shock of professional sports being shut down around the country, instead of dwelling on the current state of the world, we’re a football website so why not take a look at the football ramifications? In what is arguably the most important offseason in Patriots history, the team is now in a state of limbo. NFL franchises have begun pulling coaches…
