It started with a heavy downpour, and it looked like, maybe, this could be postponed or canceled. On Thursday, the Holliston athletic department announced the hiring of Mike Yurof to replace Todd Kiley as the program’s head football coach. Kiley took the Franklin job this offseason after Eian Bain left for Bridgewater-Raynham. The 17th annual Tri-State Grip it and Rip It tournament kicks off on Friday afternoon at New Canaan High School. The tournament features 36 schools from Connecticut and New York. There are 27 Connecticut schools participating. Among them are defending state champions Staples (Class LL) and New Canaan (Class L), and two state runners-up in Darien (Class L) and Wilton (Class MM). Marinelli was one of eight finalists for the award. He received the award during a ceremony on Wednesday night at the NHSACA convention in Bismarck, North Dakota. King Philip coach Brian Lee has taken his program both to the top of the Hockomock League, and also the state. In the last 10 years, KP has won three state titles, including in 2023 in D2 with a win over Marshfield at Gillette Stadium. While the Warriors will lose a ton of talent to graduation, don’t expect them to just fall off. There is still plenty of talent here……
