I caught up with former Springfield Central offensive lineman Jayden Bass regarding his decision to transfer to UConn.

Jayden felt UConn was the best fit for him for personal and development reasons. It was not an easy decision to leave Syracuse but Bass felt it was what was best for him at this point in his college career.

Being closer to home was a big part of his decision. Bass felt that if he was going to get an opportunity to play more, he wanted to have the opportunity to do it in front of family and friends.

Here is what Bass had to say about his decision to commit to UConn.

NEFJ: Why did you decide to transfer to UConn? What appealed to you about the school?

JB: “I decided on UConn because it was closer to home so family can come to games. The coaches felt like family , and their schedule is good as well.”

NEFJ: What did the staff tell you they envisioned for you in terms of playing time. Is the opportunity there for you to play right away?

JB: “We talked about trying to get me on the field as soon as possible and where would I fit best in their system. Whether it be guard or tackle.”

NEFJ: How excited are you to finally be getting this process over? Making a decision you are comfortable with.

JB: “I am happy that the process is over. I have less stress now and I can get ready for this upcoming season. I feel super blessed for all the schools that showed interest in me.”

Bass will make his Huskies debut on August 31st at Maryland.
