Bill O’Brien makes his Eagles debut on September 2nd at Florida State

It is hard to believe but the college football season kicks off in seven weeks. It truly is crazy how quickly the off-season flies by.

So to get you into the swing of things with college football, we will break down each and every week of the season. I will give my thoughts on every Division One game in the region.

We kickoff with Week One of the D1 college slate.

Week 1 (8/29-9/2)

UNH at UCF: The Wildcats will have their hands full against the Knights potent offense. It will also be our first look at the offense without Max Brosmer and Dylan Laube.

Bryant at Delaware: Bulldogs make their CAA debut against a good Delaware program that has been one of the pillars of the conference. Bryant will find out pretty quickly if they are ready for the CAA.

CCSU at Central Michigan: Adam Lechtenberg wanted his program to play better competition so the CCSU administration beefed up the schedule. The Blue Devils will get a chance to see how they stack up against FBS competition.

8/30

Colgate at Maine: Jordan Stevens hopes his Black Bears can make a meaningful jump in year three. The Red Raiders should allow Maine to get off to a good start on the season.

8/31

Eastern Michigan at UMass: Minutemen open the season against a good MAC opponent. A fast start and a win is vitally important for Don Brown’s squad. Year three is huge for Brown and his staff. If UMass is truly going in the right direction, then their fans need to see meaningful progress this upcoming season.

UConn at Maryland: Tough opener for the Huskies but a game Jim Mora’s team can win if they come to play, limit mistakes and make some big plays. It will be our first look at Gordie Sammis as offensive coordinator.

Holy Cross at URI: Dan Curran’s debut at Holy Cross is a tough one against Jim Fleming’s Rams. This could very well be the game of the weekend.

Merrimack at Air Force: New coach Mike Gennetti makes his debut against a good Air Force team in Colorado Springs. A great stage for the Warriors to continue to build their national brand.

Delaware State at Sacred Heart: The Pios need to bounce back after back to back tough seasons. Delaware State is a good opener for them as they try to build some momentum as an independent. A win to open the season would do wonders for Mark Nofri’s squad.

9/2

Boston College at Florida State: Labor Day night in prime time. What a way for Bill O’Brien to kick off his tenure at BC. If the Eagles want to surprise folks this season, beating the Seminoles on national television would be a good start.
