Bowl Previews and Picks for December 27th

Mike Leach and the Washington State Cougars have their sites on a Holiday Bowl trophy.

Army at North Texas +10.5, in the Heart of Dallas Bowl: I like North Texas in this game as a heavy underdog. Army is not good enough to be favored by this many points.

Sure, the Black Knights will run the football effectively but I don’t think they’ll score enough points to win by double digits.

I think Army will win this game but it won’t be by two scores. Take the Mean Green as dogs in a game that will feature a contrast in styles offensively.

Temple v. Wake Forest +13, in the Military Bowl: Both programs play quality defense so I highly doubt we’ll see a lot of points in this game.
Temple is favored by two touchdowns but I don’t see them beating Wake Forest by two touchdowns. I think this game will be much closer than that.

Put your money on Wake Forest as a dog in this one. They won’t win but they’ll make things tough on the Owls.

Washington State -7 v. Minnesota, in the Holiday Bowl: Minnesota is dealing with several suspensions on the defensive side of the ball. That’s not good when facing Luke Falk and the high powered Washington State offense.
Falk has plenty of skill to distribute the ball to. The Gophers will have a tough time matching up, especially in space.

-7 is a good number to take when playing the favorite. Putting your money on the Cougars in this one makes a whole lot of sense.

Baylor v. Boise State -7, in the Cactus Bowl: Baylor quit on this season in late October. The Bears are a mess right now and they need this season to end.
That’s why I’m putting my money on Boise. Running back Jeremy McNichols is playing in his last game for the Broncos and I think he’ll go off against a Baylor defense that is generous against the run.
