Bloody Red Sox Blog: Sox Come Up Lame in their Home Opener.

The Red Sox came up lame this afternoon in their home opener losing  9-7 to the Orioles. David Price and Craig Kimbrel both got roughed up in their home debuts. The Sox offense once again provided enough run support but the pitching was disappointing.

Price in particular was hard to watch. He wasn’t very good today. He labored right from jump street. He left a bunch of pitches over the plate and the Orioles crushed them. With all the pressure on him this season, Price can’t have days like today. He needs to be good every time he takes the bump.

As I mentioned, Kimbrel also struggled as when he came into the game in the ninth. He walked two and gave up a three run jack to Chris Davis. You can tell Kimbrel was a bit too amped up.

It was a beautiful filled all the pre game pomp and circumstance that makes opening day great but in the end, the Red Sox lost their second in a row and left a lot of people disappointed.

Hopefully they’ll bounce back tomorrow night. Don’t hold your breath however. Clay Buchholz is pitching. He’s the ultimate hit or miss starter.
