Former Patriots Coach Bill Belichick will not be going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the first ballot. Belichick failed to get the requisite number of votes to get in.
Belichick not going into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot is a joke and a travesty. The voters should be ashamed of themselves. How do you keep the greatest coach of all-time out of the Hall of Fame on his first try?
The only reason I can see them keeping Belichick out of the Hall of Fame this year is the cheating scandals. Either that or the voters don’t believe he is done coaching in the NFL. Otherwise, there is no logical reason to keep him out.
Belichick won 6 Super Bowls and 31 playoff games with the Patriots, He also won 2 Super Bowls with the New York Giants. He won 333 total games as a head coach. His Giants game plan against the Buffalo Bills is in the Hall of Fame already! There is no way on earth you can justify keeping him out.

Former Bills and Colts executive Bill Polian is rumored to have played a role in keeping Belichick out. He supposedly wants Belichick to wait a year as “penance” for the cheating scandals. If that’s true, shame on Polian for acting like a total loser.
I don’t normally overreact to Hall of Fame voting but putting Belichick in on the first ballot was the no brainer of no brainers. The fact the voters did not is an indictment on them. This isn’t about Belichick. This is about getting him back for years of not playing ball with certain members of the media and certain people in the NFL.
You can already tell that leaving Belichick out of the Hall of Fame has already backfired on the voters. Local media members, national media members and former players alike have all come out in defense of Belichick’s candidacy and they have shared their thoughts on him not getting in on the first ballot. It makes no sense. To no one!
Whether you are a Patriots fan or not, one thing we can all agree on is Bill Belichick is a first ballot Hall of Famer. The fact that he did not get in invalidates the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
