Bill Belichick interviews with Falcons

Former Patriots coach Bill Belichick has interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons. The team announced the interview last night. It is a well known fact that Falcons owner Arthur Blank has a genuine interest in Belichick and with several openings out there, including potential openings in Dallas and Philadelphia, Blank wanted to meet with Belichick first.

The Falcons job is appealing for a myriad of reasons. Atlanta has a talented, young skill group, a good offensive line and a veteran defense. Quarterback is the one glaring hole and it is a big one but if the Falcons add a veteran signal caller this off-season, they are in prime position to contend.

The question is, is Atlanta a good enough job for Belichick? At 71 years old, he is no spring chicken and needs to inherit a situation that has a quarterback, a talented roster and an ownership group that is willing to let him do what he wants. Blank might let Belichick do what he wants but does the legendary coach think he can actually win in the ATL? I guess we will find out soon.

The Falcons have interviewed several candidates already and have requested permission from the Raiders to interview Antonio Pierce. While Belichick is a focal point, Blank is doing his due diligence to interview multiple candidates. in an effort to find the right fit.

If the Falcons are looking to draft a quarterback or trade for someone like Justin Fields, they might want to consider hiring a younger coach, possibly an offensive coach. If Blank wants to win now, then Belichick has to be the guy. A big paycheck and personnel control might just be enough to lure Belichick to Atlanta.
