On Tuesday afternoon, Boston College High School officially announced that former Patriots special teams legend Matthew Slater is joining the coaching staff for this season.

Slater’s official title according to a statement posted on the BC High Athletics Instagram page is ‘Assistant Head Coach for Leadership and Player Development.’

There’s no one better to lead young men than a guy like Slater. Slater was not only a multi-time team captain, All-Pro and Super Bowl champion, but he was widely regarded as one of the best locker room guys in the entire NFL.

“It is a privilege to work alongside a school so deeply committed to developing young men of character,” Slater said in the brief social media post. “Football is one of the greatest classrooms for teaching life’s most important lessons.”

Slater and BC High head coach Paul Zukauskas will be hosting a camp from 5-8:00 p.m August 17-20 for players entering grades 9-12. This will be a great opportunity for future Eagles to come meet a legendary player in the region who will now pour of his leadership skills and qualities into young men.
