On Tuesday, BB&N defensive back Anochie “AJ” Azuakolam announced his verbal commitment to UMass and coach Don Brown.
Azuakolam has been a multi-year starter for the Knights, one of the top programs in New England and always home to many prospects.
This is, without question, one of the more underrated players in the class of 2025. At 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, Azuakolam has the type of great length that defensive coordinators covet to match up with the bigger receivers of college football.
More than that, Azuakolam is excellent in run support. He is not the type of player to shy away from that part of the game.
He is capable of playing either cornerback or safety at the next level.
Here is what Azuakolam’s coach, Mike Willey, said about him.
“AJ has been a great player for us,” Willey said. “He is long, and can really cover ground. He has a nose for the ball and loves contact. UMass is getting a really good player and an even better young man.”
This is UMass’ third commit of the 2025 class.
Azuakolam will join former BB&N players Tyler Martin, a linebacker, and Ty Harding, a wide receiver, in Amherst.
