BB&N Tight End Brett Elliott commits to Duke

BB&N Tight End Brett Elliott has committed to Duke. The Holliston native held offers from Boston College, UConn, UMass, Harvard, Dartmouth and Yale. Elliott also held offers from Nebraska, Rutgers, Temple, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina and Indiana.

Elliott cited the combination of Power 5 football and a great education as the two  reasons he picked Duke over the other programs that recruited him.

”I chose Duke because I felt like it was the best place for me both football wise and academically. It is the best of both worlds when you’re playing Power 5 football in the ACC while also getting a great degree.” Elliott added: “Being around everyone involved in the program this past weekend also just made me feel at home.”

As far as what he will be playing, Elliott will play tight end. The coaching staff has already told him how they plan on using him.

“They’ll use me as a true tight end. They’ll use me a lot in the pass game, getting me the ball. They will also use me in the run game. They feel really confident about my run blocking ability.”

As far as picking Duke over several great local programs, Elliott leaned on his family but he ultimately made his decision to attend Duke. It helps that his older brother Scott, a Harvard graduate transfer will be playing for the Blue Devils as well.

“It definitely played a little bit of a role. It will be great playing with Scott over there for a year. But it definitely wasn’t the main component in my decision.”

Elliott took his time with the process and made the best decision for himself. The 6-5 227 pound tight end has a bright future at the next level. Do not be surprised if he plays sooner than later after arriving on campus in 2024.
