Look, I can’t say I’m surprised that a Falcons coach asked Eli Apple if he likes men. I’m not saying I think Apple is gay. What I’m saying is, coaches and personnel executives have asked stupid questions like this at the combine for years. It’s not right but I’m not totally surprised either. I don’t think the coach should be fired but head coach Dan Quinn better get his house in order because a coach asking a question like that reflects poorly on him and the organization.

Besides, who cares if Apple is straight or gay. Sexual orientation has nothing to do with whether or not someone can play. Apple is a good player and as far as we know, he’s heterosexual. Bringing up sexuality in these interviews is totally unecessary to me. 

Teams only have 15 minutes to interview players at the combine. The fact that a coach would ask that type of question is a complete waste of time. Then again, Jeff Ireland asked Dez Bryant if his mother was a prostitue so I guess this isn’t the first time we’ve heard a ridiculous question at the combine.
