Kickoff: The Pirates will look to bounce back after last week’s tough loss at Tulsa when they travel to Green Bay, Wisconsin to take on the Blizzard. Both teams have qualified for the playoffs but this game is all about the standing and playoff positioning. Needless to say, it is a big one.
Here are four keys to the game.
1st Down: Sustain offense: The Pirates have been running out of gas lately on offense in the second half of game. They need to play four quarters of offense tonight,
2nd Down: Balance things out on offense: Running back Pooka Williams needs to be more of a factor in this offense. The running game needs to balance things out if the Pirates are going to turn things around. It cannot be the Kenji Bahar show on the ground.
3rd Down: Pass defense: The last time these two teams played, Green Bay quarterback Max Meylor was 16 of 26 passing for 155 yards with four touchdowns against no interceptions in a 47-35 win. That cannot be the case tonight. The Pirates secondary needs to play better.
4th Down: Consistency: It has been an issue for the Pirates lately and they need to figure it out if they are going to make a playoff run.
Extra Point: The Pirates own an all-time record of 6-4 over the Blizzard, including a playoff victory last season.
Final Drive: The Pirates are running out of gate down the stretch and need a win to build some momentum. It will be tough to get against a Blizzard team that has had their number of late.
