Get to know Malik Dixon -Williams:

NEFJ: When did you start playing football?

MDW: “I started playing football when I was just four years old.”

NEFJ: What do you love about the game of football?

MDW: “What I love most about the game of football is the energy and excitement it brings. Not only the players but to the viewers as well. The adrenaline you feel after making a big play and hearing the stadium go crazy is insane.”

NEFJ: What made you decide to commit to UConn? Why was it the right school for you?

MDW: “I chose UConn because I wanted to be a part of something special. Which was the ability to change the culture and build a better narrative around UConn football. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy and it would take time, but I was prepared.”

NEFJ: How much has UConn prepared you for the opportunity to play in the NFL?

MDW: “Coach Mora has been around so many legends since the day he was born. He has built so many connections and relationships within the NFL that will last a lifetime. He’s a great dude and because of that, he attracts great people. The coaching staff he put together at UConn did an amazing job at teaching us the game of football. They also treated us as professional so going into the NFL with the maturity I have will definitely be an advantage.”

NEFJ: When you are not playing football or doing anything football related, what do you like to do off the field?

MDW: “I’m a father, and a fiancé, so I spend my free time hanging out with my family. We’re a very active family so we try to stay busy by going to the park, pool, or any local attraction we find interesting.”

NEFJ: What is your favorite pregame meal and hype song?

MDW: “Favorite pre game meal would be lasagna and then I would pour a little Alfredo sauce on top. Hype song was normally “ballin” by Chief Keef but it changes based on my mood.”

NEFJ: What is an NFL team getting in you if they draft or sign you?

MDW: “An NFL team would be getting a mature professional. Someone that knows how to handle business and understands the severity of things while also seizing the moment and having fun while doing it. I’m a realist. I understand that the NFL is a business, a performance-based business. With that being said, a team would be receiving an athlete that expects to perform their best every single day.”
