Following the Windham Jaguars Football journey in Ireland

The Windham High School football program is on a journey of a lifetime this week. The Jaguars are participating in the Global Ireland Football Tournament, and will open their season Friday (7 a.m. EST) against the Maclay School of Tallahassee, Florida.

Windham flew from Boston to Dublin on Tuesday and is scheduled to return on Sunday.

Assistant coach Lauren Gaudette is chronicling their trip for us. Here is a little bit of what the players and coaches did in day one of the trip.

Day 1:

-When we landed in Dublin, we headed to CLG Na Fianna, a sport club in Dublin. The team got a big introduction in the sport club culture but more so, we all got an introduction into the Gaelic Games, Ireland’s national sport! It consisted of 2 indigenous games, Hurling and Gaelic Football! The players and some coaches got a chance to learn the basic rules and skills of Hurling and Gaelic Football. It was a really fun time! One reason we’re going on this trip was to learn and experience some Irish culture and this was a big part of the day!

-We had a practice to end the day. It was a solid practice as we hit a few things to review on. Have a big day tomorrow and we’re all excited and enjoying it!

We will have more on Thursday as we follow the Windham Football team in Ireland.
