UConn quarterback Zion Turner enters the transfer portal

UConn redshirt sophomore quarterback Zion Turner has decided to enter the transfer portal according to On3 Sports.

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla native started in 13 games for the Huskies as a true freshman in 2022 after starter Ta’Quan Roberson went down with a season-ending knee injury in the season opener.

Turner threw for 1,407 yards, nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions that season. He also rushed for 260 yards on 90 carries and scored one rushing touchdown.

Turner led the Huskies to a 6-6 season and an appearance in the Myrtle Beach Bowl. He lost the starting job to Joe Fagnano, who transferred in from Maine prior to this season.

Turner redshirted this year so he still has three years of eligibility. He should garner plenty of interest in the portal, especially from schools in Florida and the Southeast.
