Patriots Pulse: 3 Thoughts on Robert Kraft’s Comments from the Owners Meetings

By John Sarianides

Patriots owner Robert Kraft made some interesting comments when meeting with reporters yesterday. Here the three comments that got my attention and what I think.

1. On Brady Claiming He Can Play 6-7 More Years: I commend the GOAT for being confident but he will not play six more years. It is impossible for Brady to play that long and still play at a high level. I know doubting Brady is a heretic thing to do around these parts but the fact of the matter is, father time catches up with all of us. There is a reason Belichick won’t trade Jimmy G. He doesn’t believe Brady can play that long either.

2. Kraft Wants Belichick to Coach Into His 80’s: Wishful thinking Bobby. Look, Belichick is a junkie. He loves football. He turns 65 next month so I can see him potentially coaching another five years and maybe doing another two years in the front office but coaching into his 80’s? NO WAY! Again, father time catches up to all of us. You can’t do 17-18 hour days when you are eighty. I don’t care how much you love the game.

3. Kraft Would Love to See Revis Back in a Patriots Uniform: Kraft publicly admitted that if Belichick wanted to sign Revis, he would be on board with it. Bottom line, Revis will end up in New England if the Patriots trade Malcolm Butler. He knows the system and Belichick believes that he and his coaches fix whatever ails the aging Revis.

As usual, Kraft says a lot of things but just because he thinks the Patriots should hold onto Malcolm Butler or sign Darrelle Revis, doesn’t mean Belichick agrees with him. Luckily Kraft knows enough to stay out of the way. Belichick signs the players, Kraft signs the checks.
