NCAA Football: Bowl Game Preview And Picks For December 26th

Every team in today’s bowl games with the exception of Mississippi State has a 6-6 record.

Miami (OH) v. Mississippi State -15 in the St. Petersburg Bowl: Despite winning six in a row to get to this game, I like Mississippi State over Miami of Ohio in this one. The Bulldogs are the better team.

-15 is a big number for a 5-7 team to be favored but Miami can’t match up physically in this game so I am going to put my money on the Bulldogs. It’s a no brainer play.

Maryland v. Boston College +1.5, in the Quick Lane Bowl: I like Boston College in this game. Maryland really struggled down the stretch and while B.C wasn’t exactly killing it, the Eagles can run the football and they play great defense.

Steve Addazio’s critics talk about B.C playing boring football. That’s fine. Pounding the ball and getting after it defensively wins game and that’s why I like the Eagles in this one. I’m taking them as a dog.

NC State -4 v. Vanderbilt, in the Independence Bowl: The Independence Bowl is no longer a premier bowl game but we’ve seen some pretty good games through the years.

This battle of two 6-6 teams should be no different. Both teams match up well with each other physically. The difference in this game could be Wolfpack running back Matthew Dayes.

The 5-9, 203 Dayes is tough to tackle and explosive in space. Dayes scored 10 rushing touchdowns this season. He will be the best player on the field for either team and is the reason I’m putting my money on the Pack.
