1. The Saints cutting C.J Spiller is a bit of a surprise. They gave him a four year, $16 million dollar deal last off-season so they obviously thought he could play.
2. Speaking of the Saints. Sean Payton is no longer calling. Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. is now calling the plays. Can Payton call the defense? The Saints are awful.
3. The NFL announced that they are launching another $100 million dollar concussion initiative. Throwing money at the problem isn’t going to fix. They need to do more.
4. Jerry Jones is right in commending his team for standing up for the National Anthem on Sunday. It was the right thing to do. “Sitting out” the anthem doesn’t solve any of the issue our country is facing today.
5. Good news Rams fans. Jared Goff might be elevated to the back up quarterback spot this week. You know what the next step is right?
6. Jags running back Chris Ivory was discharged from the hospital yesterday but we still don’t know what’s wrong with him. I get there are HIPPA laws involved here but the whole is kind of goofy to me.
7. Houston Cougars quarterback Greg Ward Jr. has been cleared for tomorrow night’s game against Cincinnati. That’s big for Tom Herman and the Cougs. The Bearcats will pose a stiff test.
8. Florida State safety Derwin James will now be out longer than the Noles thought. James tore his MCL and had surgery on it. Florida State was hoping he would only be out two weeks but now it could be two months. That’s a huge blow for the Noles, especially heading into this weekend’s showdown with Louisville.
