The NFL announced earlier this week that they are “investigating” claims made by a report on Al Jazeera America last month that Peyton Manning has purchased and used HGH, a banned substance in the NFL. If you noticed, the announcement that the league is investigating Manning didn’t come with much fan fare. The media casually put it out there on Monday, the day after the AFC Championship game.

Don’t hold your breath on the NFL finding anything. The investigation is a due diligence thing. The league is not actually looking for anything. They just want to show the public that they take claims like this serious and that they are willing to look into them. Of course, they won’t find anything but they’ll look anyway.

No one in the league office or in mass media wants to find anything. They love Peyton. He’s ones of the faces of the league and a media darling. If the Al Jazeera report were true, it would be a devastating blow to the league and the credibility of networks like ESPN. Even though both entities have taken major hits in recent years for some of their actions, Manning being guilty would be a major blow to what ever credibility they have left.

I’m sure the league will announce their findings some time this spring or summer. They’ll talk about how they interviewed people and went through files with a fine tooth comb but as we all know, that’s a load of bullshit! They won’t investigate anything!

The NFL is a joke. They have no problem punishing Tom Brady and the Patriots over air pressure but they’ll sweep this story under the rug. Its ridiculous. But then again, its not a surprise. That’s the way King Roger wants things done. Its his way or the highway. I’m just saying.
