The Patriots got some good news this week with offensive tackle Will Campbell and defensive tackle Milton Williams returning to practice. Both must have had a good week of practice because the team activated ahead of Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins,
In a corresponding move, the Patriots waived defensive tackle Jeremiah Pharms. The Patriots also elevated offensive lineman Brenden Jaimes and defensive lineman Leonard Taylor III to the active roster from the practice squad.
Campbell has been out since Week 12 when he tore his MCL against the Bengals. Williams hurt his ankle the week before st home against the Jets. Getting both back now is huge as the Patriots prepare for what they hope to be a long playoff run.
Vedarian Lowe did a good job filling in for Campbell at left tackle and if nothing else, it instilled confidence in the Patriots that if Lowe needed to play again, the Patriots can protect Drake Maye. Cory Durden filled in for Williams and also did a good job. He will play a big role in the Patriots defensive line rotation moving forward.
It isn’t clear how long Campbell or Williams will play. The Patriots need to win Sunday’s game so provided there are no limitations, both should start and play the entire game.
The Patriots are finally getting healthy and the return of Campbell and Williams couldn’t come at a better time.
